1. Which wall panels are best for bathrooms?
PVC wall and ceiling panels and Perform Wall Panels are the two most popular choices for bathrooms. Both are fully waterproof, fit without grouting, and remove the mould and discoloured grout problems that come with tiled walls. For a busy family bathroom or a rental property, SPC wall panels add extra impact resistance for a modest step up in price.
2. What is the difference between PVC, SPC, acoustic and hygienic wall panels?
PVC panels are lightweight waterproof panels for bathrooms, kitchens and ceilings. SPC panels use a rigid stone plastic composite core, so they are harder and rated for high-traffic and commercial areas. Acoustic panels are slatted wood-effect panels that absorb sound and reduce echo. Hygienic sheets are flat, large-format panels specified for commercial kitchens and food preparation areas.
3. Can wall panels be fitted over existing tiles?
Yes, in most cases panels can be fitted straight over sound, securely fixed tiles using a suitable panel adhesive, which saves the mess and cost of stripping the old surface. The tiles need to be stable, clean and dry first. Tell us your wall type when you order and we will point you to the right adhesive and trims.
4. How many wall panels do I need for a bathroom?
Measure the height and width of each wall you are covering, multiply for the area in square metres, then add around 10% for cuts and waste. Panel coverage varies by range: Neptune 1000 covers 1m wide per panel at 2.4m high, while Neptune 250 comes in packs of four covering 2.6m². Call us with your measurements and we will work the quantity out with you.
5. Are wall panels cheaper than tiling a bathroom?
Usually, yes. Panels are competitively priced per square metre and typically at least 50% faster to fit than tiles, with no adhesive bags, grout, spacers or specialist cutting tools to buy. That labour saving is where most of the difference sits. There is also no future cost of regrouting or resealing.
6. Do you deliver wall panels across the UK or can I collect?
Both. We deliver UK-wide, and Click & Collect is available from our trade counter at 2 Blaydon Trade Park, Toll Bridge Road, Blaydon-on-Tyne, NE21 5TR, open Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm. Local delivery to NE, SR, DH, DL and TS postcodes is free on orders over £150.
