Highly durable SPC Panels. Their composite structure ensures resistance to wear, impact and moisture while being easy to install and low-maintenance. Odyssey panels are available in 5 colours and 2 widths with an option for tongue and groove or flat edge.
Odyssey is part of our SPC wall panels range, the harder-wearing alternative to standard PVC panels for kitchens, wet rooms, hallways and commercial interiors.
Odyssey SPC Wall Panels
What are Odyssey SPC Wall Panels?
The Guardian Odyssey range is a stone plastic composite (SPC) wall panelling system designed for installations where standard PVC panels are not quite enough. SPC combines a rigid mineral-polymer core with a decorative surface layer, producing a panel that is harder, denser, and more dimensionally stable than traditional 10mm PVC alternatives, at just 5mm thick.
Each panel is 2.4m high and available in two widths: 600mm and 1000mm. All five finishes are stocked in both widths, with a choice of tongue-and-groove or flat-edge profiles, depending on your installation method and the look you are after.
Odyssey panels are sold individually. Prices vary slightly between the 600mm and 1000mm widths. If you are unsure which size suits your project, call us on 0191 933 0960 or use the Ask Us a Question button above, and we will help you work it out.
Available finishes
The Odyssey range covers five designs across two material effects: concrete and Carrara marble. All are produced with a smooth, refined surface that photographs well and holds up to close inspection.
- Polished Concrete – A soft grey tone with a smooth, lightly reflective finish. Works well in modern bathrooms, utility rooms, and open-plan kitchens where you want something understated but considered.
- Grey Concrete – A slightly cooler, flatter grey than Polished Concrete. A strong choice for commercial environments and contemporary residential spaces where a clean, neutral backdrop is the priority.
- Grey Carrara – Replicates the pale white-grey body and fine veining of classic Carrara marble. Suit bathrooms, shower rooms, and feature walls with a traditional-feeling material that requires no maintenance or cost.
- Charcoal Carrara – The same Carrara veining pattern on a deeper, darker ground. Creates a strong contrast in lighter rooms and works well in commercial settings where a premium look is required.
- Bronze Carrara – Warm ochre and bronze tones through the Carrara pattern. A distinctive option for bathrooms, hallways, and feature walls where you want something with more warmth and character.

SPC vs standard PVC wall panels: what is the difference?
Most wall panels sold in the UK use a PVC core, typically 8-10mm thick. PVC panels are a proven, cost-effective solution and the Guardian Neptune range we stock is well-suited to domestic bathrooms, wet rooms, and shower enclosures.
SPC panels use a stone-polymer blend in the core rather than a hollow or foam-filled PVC. The result is a panel that is significantly harder underfoot and under pressure, with better resistance to impact, indentation, and surface scratching. At 5mm, Odyssey panels are also thinner than standard PVC, which makes a difference in rooms where you are fitting tight to existing fittings or working around shower trays and door frames.
The key reasons to choose SPC over PVC are:
- Greater resistance to impact and surface damage in high-use areas
- Rated for heavy commercial use, not just domestic applications
- Thinner profile at 5mm versus the typical 10mm PVC panel
- More architecturally considered finishes, particularly the concrete and Carrara options
If you are fitting a family bathroom or a single shower room and cost is the main driver, standard PVC panels will do the job well. If you are fitting a commercial washroom, a high-traffic utility space, or a residential project where the finish quality needs to be higher, Odyssey is the better choice.
Where can Odyssey SPC panels be used?
The Odyssey range is rated for use in all of the following environments:
- Bathrooms and en-suites
- Wet rooms and shower enclosures
- Kitchens and utility rooms
- Hallways and living areas
- Bedrooms and dining rooms
- Commercial washrooms and heavy commercial spaces
- Basements and below-ground installations
Unlike standard decorative PVC panels, Odyssey is suitable for areas with sustained foot traffic and frequent physical contact. The concrete and Carrara finishes also make it a practical choice in rooms outside the bathroom, where a purely functional-looking panel would feel out of place.
Installation
Odyssey panels are designed to be installed using compatible panel adhesive, applied to a clean, dry, and structurally sound substrate. Both tongue-and-groove and flat-edge profiles are available, so the installation method can be matched to your preferred approach and the substrate you are working with.
The 1000mm-wide panels cover more wall per piece, reducing the number of joins and speeding up installation in larger rooms. The 600mm option offers greater flexibility in rooms with many features, or where you want to control the visual rhythm of the panelling.
Panels can be cut using a fine-tooth saw or a circular saw with a sharp blade. Standard panel trims and corner profiles are available separately for finishing internal, external, and panel edges. If you are unsure what trims you need for your project, get in touch, and we will advise.
Cleaning and maintenance
Odyssey SPC panels require minimal upkeep. The smooth surface wipes clean with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. There are no grout lines to re-seal, no surface treatments to reapply, and no risk of the kind of mould growth that makes traditional tiled walls high maintenance over time.
Avoid abrasive cleaning products or scouring pads, which can dull the surface finish. Other than that, routine cleaning is all that is needed to keep the panels looking as they should.
